I'm in the extended benefits category. I Got a notice a few weeks ago from the Dept. of Labor stating that NYS is only giving the 86 weeks of unemployment benefits instead of the full 99 weeks because at some point UI dropped to under 8.5% ?? Does anyone know if this percentage has changed at all possibly due to the new August numbers that show no improvement? Any info would be helpful. I would like to know if I'll be able to pay my bills this month.

It's gut wrenching isn't it?

I was laid off after 13 years from a small family owned business where at one time the owner even told me that as long as he owned the company I would have a job..

That was until his idiot cousin decided he needed a job and then they let me go..

At age 56 I am not sure what I am going to do. This is basically forced retirement without any health insurance or Social Security and no one to acquire any income. I think there are many, many people that were middle class Americans that are now going to be living on the streets if they are not already.

Then to see the stories about the United States bailing out the EU, but can't extend benefits just makes mad as hell.

Glad I found this site.. At least I can vent while I still have the internet.

God Bless,
